senior capstone idea...

For my senior capstone project, i am proposing a Viking Cooking School on the lower level of the Fuqua building, and a boutique hotel for the top floors. For the the entire Fuqua proposal, i will mix old with new, and incorporate a lot of natural light. I like the Idea of using the older building with a new purpose, as well as using shiny new materials alongside older fixtures. My two focuses will be historic preservation and materials.

For the Viking Cooking School space, i see stainless steel cook/preperation tables for the students, large wooden chopping blocks, and frosted blue/green glass. I want the space to be modern, with the latest cooking appliances and glass fixtures, but i also want to break up the coolness of the stainless steel with the warmth of wood panels.



For the boutique hotel space, i want to mix old and new furniture, while making the rooms feel more residential than your standard hotel. I like neutrals with unexpected pops of color.

A third idea that interests me is incorporating a contemporary florist/chocolate shop with unique breeds of flowers from all over the world and a chocolate counter, where each piece of chocolate is a work of art.
